Krestin G. Bahr is a transformational education leader serving as Superintendent of the Peninsula School District (PSD) in Gig Harbor, Washington, where she oversees 9,000 students and staff across 17 schools. Since joining PSD in 2021, her dynamic leadership has driven remarkable growth, including the opening of four new schools, comprehensive remodeling of two middle schools, and establishment of three Mastery-Based Arts Impact Schools.
Under her guidance, PSD has earned recognition as an AASA "District to Watch" in 2024, particularly for achievements in early literacy and environmental sustainability. The district has seen rising graduation rates across all high schools, while multiple schools have earned Washington's Green Schools and OSPI STEM Lighthouse School designations.
Previously, as Superintendent of Eatonville School District (2013-2021), Krestin launched innovative programs like GRITS (Growing Resources in Teaching Science), integrating agricultural education with STEM learning. Her leadership earned Eatonville recognition as a Google Reference District and multiple Green Ribbon Awards.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, as WASA President, she collaborated with the Governor's office to develop crucial statewide education delivery plans. Her expertise extends to service on the AASA Governing Committee and Executive Committee representing the West Coast, and appointment to the Professional Educator Standards Board by the Governor.
Krestin holds a Superintendent Certification from Washington State University, a Master of Education from City University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Science from Pacific Lutheran University. Her achievements include two nominations for AASA Superintendent of the Year and the 2023 Leader of Distinction Award from the Washington Association of School Business Officials. Through collaborative leadership and unwavering focus on student success, she continues to shape the future of education in Washington state and beyond.
